DA FIUME DI QADISHA ALLA PIAVE
Between the Qadisha River in Lebanon and the Piave River in Italy dwells a history of liberty, a history of “the sons of sorrow” who fought and resisted persecutions. What’s common between them is not only their geographical and natural impact but also their historical impact living in the collective memory of the citizens. They are both called: ‘The sacred river of the homeland.’

PHASE I : Nervesa della Battaglia
A grid of vertical elements was installed at the borderline of the Piave river, regenerating (symbolically) the strategic line created by the Italian army to defend their land from the Austro-Hungarian and German opponents.

PHASE II: Qadisha
An installation of scarecrows distributed as agglomerations around an inside the river dressed in black and white as a reminder of the monks and the villagers’ habit. The Maronite stood against persecutors and protected their identity the way a scarecrow protects the growing crops from the flock of birds.
